What is the Origin of Veterans Day?
In the past, Veterans Day was known as Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of World War I. The first time Armistice was observed on November 11, 1919, showing the first anniversary of the end of World War I between the Allied nations and Germany. Afterward the U.S. Congress passed a resolution and recognizing November 11 as a day to honor the nation’s veterans every year who served for the military forces. After a few years, in 1938, it became a national holiday.
In 1954, American President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially signed the bill into law, and announce that the name of the from now on Armistice Day will now be known as Veterans Day to recognize all veterans who have served in the U.S.
